AFP-GHC is excited to offer its signature Ask The Experts Conference this year. Join local fundraising professionals as we all invest in ourselves by learning more on how to shift the gears of philanthropy.
Hosted at the Houston Food Bank on June 9th, this day long conference will feature two keynote speakers: Aimee Woodall, CEO of The Black Sheep Agency, a cause-driven brand shop focused on amplifying messages and accelerating impact, and Dr. Adrian Sargeant, a prominent researcher in the field of individual philanthropy and the psychology behind why people give.
Cherrelle Duncan, a 2015 conference attendee and 2017 AFP Outstanding Young Professional Award winner reflects on her experience, citing there’s no better way to learn from your local peers:
“As a young fundraiser, it is important to continuously learn about the field and grow within the profession. ATE provides the opportunity to connect with fundraising professionals while learning relevant and valuable information. You will leave the conference with knowledge about trends in the field, guidance from seasoned professionals, and tools to help you become a highly successful fundraiser.”
Duncan encourages current members to make an investment in you and your career by registering and attending Ask The Experts in 2017. In addition to sessions on proposal writing, refreshing your board, data analytics, and managing volunteers, the Takeaway Room at Ask The Experts will provide an invaluable opportunity for you to get feedback from an advanced professional on different items, like your résumé and organizational appeal letters.
Jillian Day, a 2014 & 2015 attendee and 2017 Co-Chair, attributes several professional milestones to her past attendance:
“I attended Ask the Experts 2014 as a new Development Director. I had been fundraising for almost two years in a small nonprofit, so the opportunity to hear from local experts and legends was not to be missed. I attribute several future milestones to that particular conference, including a chance meeting with my current boss, a roadmap for a successful annual solicitation, the introduction to a future mentor and a lesson learned about the importance of gratitude in our profession.”
As Co-Chair, Day’s greatest hope for this conference is that everyone walks away with professional development and networking that shapes the course of your career.
By attending the 2017 Ask The Experts Conference, you can make an investment in yourself. It’s not too late to take advantage of early bird registration. Registration is $80 for members/$100 for non-members and ends June 5th.
